Volunteering

Interested in history? Like meeting people? Fancy working in friendly, fun, fascinating surroundings? The Living Memory Association could be right up your street.
We're looking for volunteers to help, with hours to suit yourself seven days a week, all ages welcome.

Opportunities include chatting with visitors and guests, digital archiving, museum collection management, interviewing people about their pasts for special projects, assisting with groups, and all that come into our Wee Museum and Wee Hub.
Training in reminiscence skills is given. You'll be shown how to be supportive and encouraging to folk with long-term memory loss. There is also plenty of scope to suggest your own ideas and projects.

As we work towards becoming an accredited museum, we would love to hear from people keen to support the Wee Museum’s collection. You could help us digitise our catalogue using eHive: taking object photographs and creating or editing object records, and be part of this exciting next step for the museum!

At the moment we have volunteers aged from 17 to 83 giving up some of their spare time–and finding it a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Travel and lunch expenses are paid.

Contact us for more information, or come into our Wee Museum of Memory or The Wee Museum of Memory (West Lothian), for an informal chat and pick up an application form. We'll look forward to seeing you!
