I did lots of cycling holidays. We took food with us to cook in the youth hostels. We’d often meet other nationalities, German, French. We would cycle in snow sometimes up to Fintry, Dunblane, Glen Nevis, Tomintoul, and Ballater – we had to push our bikes over a mountain to get there! We used to ride side by side and talk to one another. We just wore our skirts. We cycled down to Stranraer and got the ferry over to Belfast. We went up to Port Rush then down to Ballymoney. We stayed in Dalquharron Castle, it was a youth hostel. We’d do 40 or 50 miles every day.
