TRAINING
The Living Memory Association has always been keen to offer training
in oral history reminiscence and related work. For many years we have
run training and information events. These have covered subjects
such as interviewing techniques, copyright and ethical issues, dealing
with painful memories, working with dementia, use of prompting materials
and handling boxes, and Information Technology.
We have a Reminiscence Trainer to work with volunteers
and workers involved with elderly people.
John McCaughie, who took up his post in July 2004 said "The LMA
is anxious to improve the training opportunities available in all aspects
of reminiscence work. These range from how to set up a reminiscence group
to using recording equipment and organising exhibitions of a group's
work".
Training is flexible and responsive to the needs of the volunteers and
workers and can be organised in-house. John has been busy organising
a rolling programme of training days focussed on an introduction to Reminiscence
group work. We are now taking bookings
for the dates below.
