The basic word search box looks for an exact match between what you type and the caption of the photograph. For example if you type 'tram' then the archive will return all photographs where the word tram appears in the caption.

Unfortunately we are, as yet, unable to offer a multiple keyword search. If more than one word is entered then a dumb search is performed looking for exactly the words in exactly the order you have entered them.
