WELCOME
The new premises of the LMA continue to prove their worth.
On 2nd December 2003, Karen Brockwell and Helen Palmer,
Assistant Directors of the Heritage Lottery Fund, visited the LMA
office. The visitors were given a comprehensive tour and demonstration
of the work in progress.
On January 13th
2004 the Rt. Hon. Estelle Morris MP, Minister of State, Department
for Culture, Media and Sport, Frank McAveety MSP, Scottish Minister
for Culture, Tourism and Sport, and Colin McLean, Heritage Lottery
Manager for Scotland, visited the office. The Ministers expressed
their appreciation of the value of reminiscence projects and a plaque
acknowledging Heritage Lottery funding was unveiled.
Groups from Day Care Centres have visited the shop and
a training session, in conjunction with the WEA, has taken place.
Presentations and training sessions have also been given at other
venues.
The office is equipped with a variety of materials that can be used
to stimulate reminiscence including household artefacts, photographs,
slides and videos.
It is hoped to have handling boxes, books and other reference materials
available for members to borrow in the future.
The premises are open daily:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday - 10am to 4 pm
Tuesday, Friday - 1pm to 4pm
To avoid disappointment, anyone planning to visit or bring a group
should phone or e-mail to make an appointment.

A 'Celebration of
Volunteers' was held at St. Peter's Church Hall on Wednesday 29th

the LMA archive in educational packs that are to be distributed to
schools and further education institutes in Scotland.
An education pack on the Second World War is in preparation and may
include LMA interviews with veterans.
